Norse Hall … So Medieval!

Norse Hall … So Medieval!

DEPECHE MODE.

SO CRUEL.

We crossed the line
Who pushed who over?
It doesn’t matter to you
It matters to me

We’re cut adrift
But still floating
I’m only hanging on
To watch you go down,
My love

I disappeared in you
You disappeared from me
I gave you everything you ever wanted
It wasn’t what you wanted

The men who love you, you hate the most
They pass through you like a ghost
They look for you, but your spirit is in the air
Baby, you’re nowhere

Ohhhh
You say in love there are no rules
Ohhhh
Sweetheart, you’re so cruel

Desperation is a tender trap
It gets you every time
You put your lips to her lips
To stop the lie

Her skin is pale like God’s only dove
Screams like an angel for your love
Then she makes you watch her from above
And you need her like a drug

Ohhhh
You say in love there are no rules
Ohhhh
Sweetheart, you’re so cruel

She wears my love
Like a see-through dress
Her lips say one thing
Her movements something else

Oh love
Like a screaming flower
Love
Dying every hour

And you don’t know if it’s fear or desire
Danger the drug that takes you higher?
Head of heaven
Fingers in the mire

Her heart is racing, you can’t keep up
The night is bleeding like a cut
Between the horses of love and lust
We are trampled underfoot

Ohhhh
You say in love there are no rules
Ohhhh
Sweetheart, you’re so cruel

Ohhhh
To stay with you I’d be a fool
Ohhhh
Sweetheart, you’re so cruel

My amazing sculptor boyfriend Jordan Tull & his also amazing collaborator Damien Gilley designed a kick-ass project that blew the mind of the Portland art scene last March 2011 first thursday event held at the Wieden + Kennedy Gallery space.  I haven’t done an installation as elaborate for nearly over five years, but you know throughout that time I have been developing concepts and its a matter or space, place, and especially the bonus budget to create my vision.  So, dear Portland art scene, one day I look forward to returning soon …

Willamette Weekly write-up by Richard Speers:

Jordan Tull and Damien Gilley created an invigorating futuristic environment in the Wieden + Kennedy lobby that functions simultaneously as large-scale sculpture, architecture, interior design, and stage set.  On first thursday, dance Rachel Tess performed throughout the environment to an eerie soundtrack by Thomas Thorson.  as Tess moved within Tull & Gilley’s wooden rhombuses, orange acrylic glass, and canted fluorescent light bulbs, audience members were compelled to ponder the point at which an aesthetic object in its own right becomes merely a backdrop to human performance.
